It turns out that I registered the domain ‘andfinally.com’ on October 15 1999. This site – though not the blog – is a quarter-century old.
It came about because I wanted a place to put the work being done by my students on the New Media Journalism course I was teaching at City University, London. I don’t recall exactly how we came up with the name but it was a joke based on ITN News At Ten’s habit of ending bulletins with a jokey and light item, introduced as ‘and, finally..’
It seems to have stuck.
